A two-tone V. The left stroke is white, the right stroke curves away in gold, and two angled gold ticks sit above the opening. Read it one way and it is a V, for Vigge. Read it the other way and the ticks are eyes and the curve is a grin — which is why people recognise it as a smiling face, the same way the Japanese katakana character ツ gets used online as a smiley. Both readings are intended.
